Friday 1 March 2024 Talented Year 9 artist is proud to show her faces A talented Year 9 pupil has been praised for pieces of ‘fantastic’ art she created in her own time.Young artist, Pearl, says the portraits, which take about three to four hours to produce, are based on the work and character of the singer songwriter, Melanie Martinez. Pearl said: “A friend told me about Melanie Martinez and I love her work, both as a musician and her character.“Each portrait takes about three to four hours and listening to music and creating artwork really helps me mentally and helps me to relax.”The talented artist added that she hopes to take up Art as a career. Pearl added: “My Art teacher, Mrs Brennan, said the work was ‘amazing’ and encouraged me to go in for GCSE Art, which I will be doing.”That news will please Mrs Brennan who, on seeing Pearl’s work, said: “It is always great to see pupils exploring their creativity at home. Well done Pearl, they are fantastic.”

Tuesday 30 January 2024 Year 7 artists are flying Well done to our young artists in 7S who have been working hard on their observational drawing skills, studying Joe MacGown’s insect illustrations.Joe MacGowan is a Mississippi artist who creates chaotic assemblages of strange mutated creatures, crowded surreal landscapes, and mandala-like designs using imaginative imagery and random patterns.MacGown’s work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, as well as in international group shows throughout America, Canada, the Philippines, Russia, Serbia, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and here in the UK.Head of Art, Mrs Brennan, said: “Well done to 7S who have produced some fabulous work in the style of Joe MacGown’s insect-inspired artwork. We cannot wait to see their finished work.”

Friday 25 August 2023 Sacred Heart Catholic Academy is celebrating yet another successful GCSE results day. Sacred Heart Catholic Academy is celebrating yet another successful GCSE results day. The majority of pupils achieving 5 good GCSE’s including English and Mathematics. The vast majority of students are going on to sixth form, training or employment destinations, with many pupils achieving the top grades in their chosen subjects.

Tuesday 22 August 2023 Sacred Heart Catholic Academy is celebrating yet another successful A-level results day. The school achieved an A-Level pass rate of 97%, with almost 40% securing the highest A* - B grades. All students are going on to university, training or employment destinations, with many securing places at the UK’s leading universities including Oxford University, University of Liverpool and University of Manchester where they will study a range of courses from Medicine to Cyber Security.
