Talented Year 9 artist receives excellence award

A talented Year 9 pupil has been praised for pieces of ‘fantastic’ art she created in her own time.
Young artist, Pearl, says the portraits, which took about three to four hours to produce,
are based on the work and character of the singer songwriter, Melanie Martinez.
Pearl said: “A friend told me about Melanie Martinez and I love her work, both as a musician and her character.
“Each portrait takes about three to four hours and listening to music and creating artwork really helps me mentally and helps me to relax.”
The talented artist added that she hopes to take up Art as a career. Pearl added: “My Art teacher, Mrs Brennan, said the work was ‘amazing’ and encouraged me to go in for GCSE Art, which I will be doing.”
