PSHE at Sacred Heart
Our school vision, “Aspire not to have more, but to be more” along with our school values; love, respect, service and ambition, embodies the aims of our PSHEE and Citizenship Curriculum.
We are committed to promoting British Values and Personal Development as we seek to help young people reach their potential, in preparation for leading confident, fulfilled, and unselfish lives as adults. We seek to guide young people through adolescence and ensure a safe transition to adulthood.
Our approach to PSHEE consists of an inclusive developmental programme of teaching and learning, where the health and wellbeing of children and of the whole school community are actively promoted. Our PSHEE programme is central to and reflects our mission, vision and values, learning and relationships across the whole school.
The PSHEE curriculum is built on our school’s mission, values and values; it is a spiralled curriculum to allow students to build on their knowledge and understanding over time and to develop application of skills year-on-year. Due to the topical nature of this subject, the curriculum is also designed to be fluid to ensure we not only follow the statutory National Curriculum content for Citizenship but also cover important Personal, Social, Health, Emotional, Economic and Enterprise Education topics, ensuring there is a focus on school and community-based issues.
We work collaboratively with a range of external organisations to complement our PSHE curriculum including Talk the Talk, Liverpool Royal Court, and the Anthony Walker Foundation.
